DIGITAL DRIFT
The NIXI KILLICK DIGITAL DRIFT collection is a celebration of techno-optimism! A vibrant rapture orbiting the future possible. The collection maps and merges a future-primitive reverence of aquatic majesty with a sublime digital future, using alternate material technologies to ignite an ecstatic vision. It integrates strong visceral motifs from oceanic reefs and lo-fi 80's augmented reality to instil an intuitive vibrancy and unite a chorus of colour.
The reoccurring 3D mesh mapping motifs, resonate a consideration of the body as a mortal vessel for constructing our reality, echoing the contemporary context in the rise of augmented reality and new digital lifestyle portals. Using these visual and material investigations to map future possibles, a kind of shadow future, hovering on the edges of the present state of things, a map of all the ways in which the present can reinvent itself, the collection serves to juxtapose visuals reminiscent of natural technologies and abstract future material translations.
Digital Drift looks at how the natural realm provides inspiration for us to imagine the most fantastic possible future and pull the present forward to meet it, uniting nature and technology. Synthesising patterns and pigments through expressive mechanisms and technologies - braided into contemporary visual landscapes, initiating advances in material technology - continuing to inform fashion and creative body articulation. Using fashion as a dialogue to chase ripples in global concerns about the state of the planet, nature as a muse for technology and future positive expression, DIGITAL DRIFT creates a contemporary pastiche of nature, future potential and technology. NXK A/W16 is about remixing material systems and cultivating vital colour communications, intersecting on the body as a collaborative encounter of the epic. With reverence to a legacy of techno-instinctual displays, the DIGITAL DRIFT collection re-contextualises lo-fi material renderings as an intuitive expression. The DIGITAL DRIFT collection speaks as a colourful beacon radiating a natural evolution of NXK’s techno optimistic future vision.

FUTURE-TIVE NATURE
Future- tive Nature, by definition;
Progressive magnetism between the present and radically expansive possible futures, collaborative cognition with technology to extend imagination and construct new adjacent universes of creative pastiche both practical and psychological. Leveraging technology in the cultivation of empowered articulation within creative expression.
The Future-tive Nature collection is concerned with material compilations.
Looking at intimate junctions between technology and artisanal based practices to create intricately layered surfaces.
The collection is an exercise in Imagineering, exploring a collaboration between man and machine. Recontextualizing materials and machinery to consider the articulation of technology in fashion, using alternate manufacturing trajectories to connect ideas to a sense to disruptive wonder.
Fashion as a language for futurist discussions, to engage and challenge ideas around potential fabrications and their possible future scenarios.
Exploring an open dialogue for distilling visions of potential in the unfamiliar. Methodologies focus on the material dexterity of alternate possibles, overlapping and intersecting intended material uses.
The collection integrates technologies like laser cutting, vacuum forming and 3d printing, networking low-tech and hi-tech experiments into layered body interfaces. Coexisting materials such as plastics, glass and lighting systems outside their established hierarchies.
The Future-tive nature collection exists as a suite of superlative structures, exploring three dimensional visual alternatives.
The collection references the relational properties between skin, muscle and bone as a metaphor for the interactions and the different properties between the garment layers. Represented through three radial mandala designs this juxtaposition creates a textural conversation reminiscent of natural intricacies.
Materials created through the integration of latex infused fabric, digital prints, electroluminescent wires and laser cut leather leverage technology to expand on the hand.
Examining the dynamics of textural depth and body perimeter the collection holds an ethos of techno-optimism and hybrid practice.
The Future-tive Nature collection is considering positive deviations at the juncture of calculated technology and artisanal imagination, leaving the future as the only certainty.
